DENVER – Two of the best small companies in America are in Colorado, according to Forbes.
In determining the rankings, the magazine looked at publicly held companies with annual revenue of less than $1 billion. The companies had to have been publicly traded for at least a year and have revenue between $5 million and $1 billion. A company’s stock price couldn’t be lower than $5 a share.
In determining how a company ranks, Forbes considered earnings growth, sales growth and return on investment over the previous 12 months and the prior five years.
Air Methods Corp., an air-ambulance company based in Englewood, was ranked No. 14. The company (Nasdaq: AIRM) had a 14 percent annualized increase in sales over five years. Sales were $958 million over the previous 12 months.
