Nice weather to end the weekend, but hold on because the forecast gets bumpy for the workweek.
Sunday’s temperatures will be in the low 80s, about ten degrees warmer than normal. There’s a small chance for afternoon showers but no severe weather is expected. A second round of showers arrives in the mountains tonight bringing scattered storms with some snow for the mountain peaks. No travel advisories are expected.
A second disturbance arrives Wednesday into Thursday and it’s this one that could bring measurable snowfall to the mountains and metro area with reinforcing cooler air.
Forecast models are currently in disagreement with the type of precipitation expected in the metro area during this period. It is possible to have a wintry mix in lower elevations Wednesday evening through Thursday morning. Thursday’s temperatures will be about 20 degrees below normal with highs in the low 50s with a chance for showers. Temperatures will be milder on Friday with highs in the mid 60s with partly cloudy skies.
