Columbine Steak House & Lounge

Great Steak!

Delicious!
Great place, one of Denver's oldest mom and pop spots... Not too fancy but better than spending your money at a franchised restaurant.

Well first off don’t judge a book by its cover, this place is not trying to be fancy by no means,  their primary focus is on serving great steaks!  Since 1961 this place has been doing the same damn thing…flame broiling steaks of all types, with a piece of Texas toast and a little dinner salad and a baked potato. The five stars comes from its tradition, its mom and pop appeal and the cost/value proposition that is off the charts. How about a “small” fillet with all the fixings for $9.95? Or a plate filling NY steak for $14.95? If you’re there for lunch, try the grilled cheese with french fries for $3.00!

But the experience is just as important. I don’t think they have changed the chairs, tables or booths since they opened. The open kitchen, with flames curling north, is old school and fun.

The lounge is a little scary, sketchy characters hunkered in the back while shots of Tequila flow. But I wouldn’t go here to drink. Its all about the tasty meat.

The steak is actually quite good. It's a greasy spoon but definitely a Denver landmark!

Way better than saltgrass which is processed, salty and overpriced.

I went once and was not impressed. The steak was so-so but the company could have been the real fault :/

Saltgrass service is sub par and not worth the trip or cash. This is a Denver Landmark period

Eeeewwww yuck!! Disgusting! I do not understand why this filthy place is still open. Roaches and just a filthy environment. You are crazy to eat here. Do yourself a favor and put in some money towards a great meal, Saltgrass Steakhouse is the bomb.

I've lived in Denver my whole life and I've always just judged this book by its cover... I just went for the first time yesterday and I can definitely say I was missing out on something miraculous!!

Watching everyone quietly chuckle as someone ordered a Coke and got told "No Coke- Pepsi" was classic.

Its not a lie ive been going to Columbine since 1986 and although I will agree the steaks are to die for the last time I are there was in October 2014 and just as I was about to finish up my meal I found myself sharing the table top with a rather large roach I immediately smashed it with the bottom of my plate and brought it to the attention of the bus boy whom grabbed a napkin swooped it up and went about his business as though it was never there. I will never eat there again.
