Denver declared the hottest home market in the country

Metro Denver is the hottest home-buying market in the country, according to a ranking from Realtor.com released Wednesday.

Westlake Village, California-based Realtor.com takes several factors into consideration when determining the ranking, including supply and demand, the number of views per listing on its website and the median age of inventory in each market.

Denver was ranked in the No. 1 position in both May and April as well.

“Denver resoundingly maintained the top ranking as inventory there shave six days off the median age while listing views grew 7 percent over April,” Realtor.com said in a release. “Denver is experiencing substantial economic growth, and the tight supply of housing is resulting in the fastest moving inventory in the country. Additionally, Boulder places at No. 13, up four spots from No. 17 last month.”

Only two other states, Texas and Michigan, have two cities on the ranking.

well I guess that explains my home going up in value 60 K in one year. If we were going to move, cool, but sigh on the property taxes. hahaha.

It's so great I can't wait to leave! This native wants out. My rent more than doubled in 2 years... $1600/ month for an apartment! My pay only went up 2.8%. I was forced to move out of my home that I was in for 6 years. No ones getting rich but the rich (investors), and society could give a rats ass about others. It's all about the big $$$. This is not just happening in Denver- the middle classes are being pushed to lower class, soon the economy will crash and have to be rebuilt.....but only the middle class can keep it running. This is what happens when corporations run the government.

Kinda makes me want to leave my home (4th generation) & buy one of those tiny homes on TV. Far, far away.

All the winning because you can't buy a house now! What about the times when nobody could sell a house?

Which is why we can't afford to move back home, maybe not before we croak. Sigh.

Every time we visit Colorado I feel like people are saying that we should go back to Texas when they see our license plates, but we're from Colorado! Sad it's come to this. We're trying to move back when my husband gets out of the military and things aren't looking good.

I think he means it brought potheads to Denver, which in turn made the housing market sky rocket. Not all "potheads" are poor!!! Rich, successful people find pot just as appealing. So if they can have the best of both worlds, why not.

The economy's booming. Change is inevitable. If you don't like big cities, move.

It's an expensive housing market. Potheads are affording this?

It's tough getting a house right now. I wonder when it'll crash and become a buyers market again?

WAY overpriced. Prices are HALF in Minneapolis and nowhere near the crime.

It's the hottest home market because of potheads.

I'm terrified to see the next lease I get and how much my rent will be then. I have no idea how we are going to manage to stay in Denver and it breaks my heart because this is my home. If every other state would legalize weed there wouldn't be this problem.

Didn't you know? We're MOBILE, we're supposed to invade someone ELSE'S state, we're not supposed to STAY where we were BORN! I hate it too and I'm a born native of this state!

Yeah, and no one FROM here is getting any of these "homes" they keep bragging about!

It is a seller's market right now. Buyers right now are fiercely competing for homes (offering cash, over-asking and etc). They're starting to convince sellers with personal letters about why they love the house or gifts. One musical couple even sent the home owners a video of them singing a song they wrote about how much they loved the home. It's crazy!!

April. My question is: Is it great just for sellers, or just buyers, or both?

Get out of my state. I've lived here my entire life and now can barely afford to survive. Really frustrating that the natives are getting pushed out.
