Denver No. 1 on U.S. News’ Best Places to Live list

U.S. News & World Report today unveiled the 2017 Best Places to Live in the United States. The new list ranks the country’s 100 largest metropolitan areas based on affordability, job prospects and quality of life. Denver, Colorado, is named the No. 1 place to live on the inaugural list, followed by Austin, Texas, at No. 2. Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, take the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, respectively. A second Colorado city, Colorado Springs, rounds out the top five.

The 2016 Best Places to Live ranking was determined in part by a public survey of thousands of individuals across the U.S. to find out what makes a place desirable to live in. The methodology also factors in data from the United States Census Bureau, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as well as U.S. News rankings of the Best High Schools and Best Hospitals.

I lived in Co for 30 years, much has change and I still love it. One problem, it is a wonderful place to live, not to retire. It's expensive,

STOP POSTING THIS. The traffic is horrific, the lines are long everywhere. All the license plates say Texas or California! why? so they can all moved here and smoke weed. Our rent is off the charts horrible. we can barely make it month to month. So QUIT with the No. 1 Best Place To Live crap.

Giselle Martin

I agree the traffic has become terrible...1000 people a month are moving into Denver and they have ruined our beautiful city with traffic and congestion. What they are trying to escape from they have just relocated it to Denver. The quality of life has gone way down.

Dee Dee Martin

that's right Giselle Martin, I'm a native born and raised. It used to be so fun to drive from Colo Spgs to Denver and to Grand Junction. All of its become a nightmare. Sure its normal to have people move here because of the seasons and the skiing. but its become California. If I wanted to live that kind of lifestyle I'd move there.

My family goes back many generations in Colorado. Legalizing marijuana has ruined this State in every way possible. Our politicians do nothing to alleviate the crime, congestion, and homelessness due to the weed. Time to make a move out of this State.

Christopher Kodey

Really, you think pot is the ONLY reason people moved to Colorado? Not the beautiful mountains, or the wonderful people, or the job market...? Luckily you're welcome to move away, I'm sure Kansas would love to have you
