Warning: Credit card skimmers around Denver area

One of our readers was recently scammed by a credit card skimmer in the Denver area. Read the message below.

Just a heads up someone just used my debit card to withdrawal $100, and then $400, within 20 minutes from an ATM at the 7-11 on Sheridan in Denver. I have been at work all day with my debit card on me so they were able to recreate my card number and also knew my PIN.

Only way they could do this is with credit card skimmers. I’ve heard they’ve been on gas stations around here but that was about a year ago. Looks like they’re at it again so be VERY careful and always double-check what you are putting your card into. Also, check your statements for unauthorized withdrawals or purchases because skimmers are going around Denver again.

I mainly use one King Sooper gas station in Arvada and only other time I use the card is for groceries. Be careful and keep track of your spending.

The story below was in Parker but that’s just where they caught them doing it. Who knows where else, or who else, they’ve targeted.

We suggest, paying inside or using a credit card is a good way to avoid this.

Lol don't use a debit card. You have way more protections with a credit card. Why is you withdrawal limit so high?

There are dozens of other ways they can steal identities. Using cash is a false sense of security, but I understand your point.
