Larry Ulibarri talks with Jake Salazar about being an entrepreneur in Colorado and his time at MMJ America before getting into the Energy Drink business with HipShots.
Jake Salazar is the Chairman and Chief Development Officer of Solari Brands, a fully integrated farm-to-shelf hemp–based CBD company as well as consumer packaged goods in the health and wellness category across the US with Hip Shots. Jake started his entrepreneurial ventures by owning, operating and selling the Benihanas in Broomfield Colorado as well as operating the first Sothebys franchise and Devonshire Real Estate agencies.
As a visionary businessman, he then founded the multinational cannabis company MMJ America, where he was consistently placing operational efficiency, regulatory compliance and quality assurance at the forefront. His company was awarded 20 Cannabis Cups (the world’s leading cannabis competition) for an array of different genetics and products. Jake was named one of the 100 most influential people in the cannabis industry by High Times Magazine in 2018 and 2019, for his accomplishments over the past 12 years in the cannabis genetics and Hemp business. He was instrumental in crafting the original legislation to legalize marijuana in Colorado and Nevada and served as the Vice Chairman of the Industry group. He has been featured in Newsweek, Forbes, Rolling Stone, Time, GQ and High Times for his leadership roles within the industry. Jake proudly sits on the board of the Colorado Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and serves as the Chairman Elect.
