Denver may be at the top of many lists, like best places for concerts, or best green chile. But we’re at the bottom of a new list from Schoolaroo, a group that helps people find scholarships for advanced education. According to them, Denver is the worst place in America to raise a family. Yonkers, New York is the best place to raise a Family.
The Schoolaroo people took a look at 7 main factors when determining the worst (or best) places to do the family thing. Among them were Finances, Leisure, Quality of life, Home atmosphere, Safety, Health Care, and Education. Public Crime, Schools, and Healthcare were also considered in the rankings. While Denver didn’t bottom out any of those categories, we did rank in the bottom third in almost all categories. The Category that really dragged us down was home atmosphere, which includes Divorce rates, and Alcoholism in the household. Out of 151 Cities, we came in at 149. We also tanked in Safety, with disproportionate ratios of police and crime. The only category that we actually did well in, may be the important one in this study. We were number 50 when it came to education.
