Grocery prices had been creeping up for decades, but in the past few years, it has stopped creeping, and started shooting way up, especially here in Colorado.  Some number crunchers from a Law Firm in California looked at the prices of seven foods in August of 2021, and again in August of 2022.  Those foods are one dozen eggs, one loaf of bread, one gallon of whole milk, 16 ounces of cheese, one pound of potatoes, one pound of apples, and one pound of chicken.  Indianapolis Indiana took home the number one spot, with a Grocery Bill Increase of 50.6%.  Denver fell in Second with a 44% increase.  Those 7 Items around here would cost $29.87.  The national average for those items is $26.40, which was 25.9% higher than the year before.

It may benefit you to get out of Denver to do your shopping.  Colorado Springs’s shopping bill for these same items was in the range of 22 dollars, and Aurora at around $24, which is up about 10% for each of those cities over the year.  You definitely don’t want to go to San Francisco or Oakland.  Their 7 item shopping trip is over $35, and has been that way for years, followed by New York and Miami.  Denver comes in 8th on that list with $29.87.
