U.S. News & World Report commissioned a study of the 50 largest U.S. cities’ fatal auto accidents, DUI arrests, and auto thefts from the late 2010s and early 2020s to determine which cities are the riskiest for drivers. The data came from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Road Information System, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the National Insurance Crime Bureau.

The results showed that Colorado cities rank highest for DUI arrests per capita, with Colorado Springs having the highest rate nationwide and Denver coming in second. Denver also has some of the nation’s worst rates for auto theft, making it one of the riskiest cities for drivers overall. Memphis is still considered the most dangerous city for drivers, with Albuquerque ranking second risk. On a more positive note, Boston is regarded as the least risky large city for drivers, followed by New York City.

It’s important to remember that driving under the influence can have serious consequences for your safety and those around you. It’s important always to go responsibly and make sure you are not putting yourself or others at risk when behind the wheel.
