Your chance to fly in Zero Gravity is coming to Colorado

The dream of floating in zero gravity like an astronaut is no longer reserved for the select few who make it into space. Thanks to the Zero-G Experience, anyone can experience weightlessness, lunar gravity, and Martian gravity in a specially modified Boeing 727 G-FORCE ONE® aircraft.  Also known as the Vomit Comet.

The parabolic flight takes off from Colorado Springs and offers a five-hour flight with 15 parabolas, giving passengers the sensation of true weightlessness. The specially trained pilots perform aerobatic maneuvers called parabolas, which are not simulated in any way, allowing passengers to experience zero gravity. The flight takes place in FAA-designated airspace blocks, approximately 100 miles long and ten miles wide.

During the flight, the plane flies level with the horizon at an altitude of 24,000 feet, before gradually increasing the angle of the aircraft to about 45° relative to the horizon until reaching an altitude of 32,000 feet. This phase pulls 1.8 Gs, after which the plane pushes over the top of the parabolic arc, and the zero-gravity phase begins. For the next 20-30 seconds, everything in the plane is weightless. The plane gently pulls out of the maneuver, allowing flyers to gradually return to the floor of the aircraft. The maneuver is flown 15 times over the course of the flight

In addition to zero gravity, flyers aboard G-FORCE ONE experience Lunar gravity (one sixth your weight) and Martian gravity (one third your weight), achieved by flying a wider arc over the top of the parabola. On a typical flight, parabolas are flown in sets of three to five, with short periods of level flight between each set.

There is only one flight in Colorado, and space is limited.  They will be launching from the Colorado Springs Airport on June 24th.  It’s a bit Pricey, at just over $9,000 per person.  That includes your 15 Parabolas, a pre launch meal, and your jumpsuit.  The staff will also be taking photos and video of your trip, so you can share with your friends and family.
