Much like the rules of Fight Club (which is to not talk about fight club) goes for committing any crime. However, it seems like criminals nowadays get caught after flaunting their actions on social media or having loose lips. In this case, Alan Todd May couldn’t stay out of the limelight.

58-year-old Alan Todd May is a “career fraudster who escaped from federal prison in Colorado nearly five years ago,” says the Associated Press – who was captured in Florida on Tuesday.

Police were tipped off to his whereabouts after receiving a call from a concerned citizen who saw a photo of May attending “a society event in Palm Beach.” During the arrest, May wore a Rolex and drove around in a flashy high-end Mercedes.

Here are his crimes as reported by The Associated Press:

  • In February 2012, May was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for mail fraud in the Northern District of Texas.
  • In January 2018, May was transferred to the Federal Correctional Institute in Englewood.
  • During a prisoner count on Dec. 21, 2018, prison officials discovered May was missing and issued an escape notice, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
  • May is also accused of fraudulently collecting $700,000 in oil and gas royalties while in custody.

May is currently in custody, waiting for extradition to Colorado.
