One thing about people from Denver is that they’re passionate but not as passionate as Brave’s fans.

The Atlanta Braves were in for a battle on the field as they took on the Rockies on Monday. While there were plenty of moments the two teams went head to head, the thought of also battling fans wasn’t on the menu – especially when it comes from your own fanatics.

“I was a little scared at first,” Acuña said through an interpreter reports KDVR. “I think the fans were out there and asking for pictures. I really couldn’t say anything because at that point, security was already there and we were already kind of tangled up, but security was able to get there and everything’s OK. We’re all OK and I hope they’re OK.”

As Atlanta closed the gap scoring four runs to take the 9-4 lead over the Rockies, the festive night continued as two fans rushed the pitcher during the seventh inning. It took a few seconds for security to meet the chaos in the field, but they eventually successfully took the two down.

“Thankfully, they weren’t there to do any harm, but you just never know during those situations,” said Kevin Pillar, who was among the teammates and coaches who rushed to Acuña’s defense. “They were extreme fans and wanted to get a picture, put their hands on him. But in no way is it appropriate for people to leave the stands, even more to put their hands on someone else.”
