Denver Broncos Release Veteran Safety Justin Simmons

The Denver Broncos have announced that they are releasing veteran safety Justin Simmons after eight seasons with the team. This move comes after the Broncos announced their plans to release their quarterback earlier this week.

Simmons, a Pro Bowler and All-Pro, was a leader both on and off the field for the Broncos. He was a three-time nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award and a three-time winner of the Darrent Williams Good Guy Award. The Broncos released a statement thanking Simmons for his contributions to the organization and wishing him well in the future.

Releasing Simmons will save the Broncos $14.5 million against the salary cap, which they are currently working to manage under the league’s regulations. The NFL salary cap is set at $255.4 million for the 2024 season, and all teams must be under that number by the start of the league’s new year on March 13th.
