Caught on Camera: Thieves Target Restaurant Fridge at Stanley Marketplace

Annette, a beloved restaurant nestled in Aurora’s Stanley Marketplace, has become the target of repeated thefts, leaving its owner, Caroline Glover, seeking help from the community to identify the culprits. For over seven years, Annette has been a testament to Glover’s passion for food, a dream she nurtured since her late teens.

But two months ago, Glover began noticing something off. Food items seemed to vanish without explanation. “We just thought we were losing our minds,” Glover recalled, questioning whether she had miscounted the inventory. “We’d think, ‘Didn’t we have another package of steak?’ or ‘Weren’t there two gallons of milk?’”

Suspecting foul play, Glover installed security cameras, and on Thursday, her fears were confirmed. The footage revealed a group of four individuals, three of whom were seen breaking into the restaurant’s fridge while the fourth kept watch. The thieves were methodical, carefully removing screws to lift the lock, then reattaching it to avoid detection.

The thieves made off with a haul of expensive items, including cases of steak, chickens, tenderloins, oysters, and shrimp. In one night alone, they stole around $8,000 worth of food, bringing the total losses over the past two months to more than $10,000.

For Glover, seeing the footage was gut-wrenching. “It was one of the most invasive things I’ve ever witnessed,” she said. “It was really hard to watch.”

After reporting the theft to the Aurora Police, Glover is now asking the public for help in identifying the suspects so she can focus on her true passion—creating and serving great food. “At the end of the day, that’s what we want to do. But now we’re dealing with insurance claims, police reports, and adding extra security measures.”

Since sharing the video on Instagram, Glover has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community. She hopes that by raising awareness, she can prevent other restaurant owners from experiencing the same ordeal.
