Hikers Capture Mysterious ‘Humanoid’ Figure in Colorado Mountains

While hiking in the Rocky Mountains National Park near Longs Peak, Jessee Clauson and Camille Avarella took numerous photos of the stunning landscape. But what they didn’t expect was for one of those photos to land them on the local news.

After returning from their trek, the two hikers reviewed their photos and noticed something strange. In one image, they spotted a peculiar figure scaling a cliffside. The figure appeared human-like, standing about 20 feet tall with elongated arms and legs. Intrigued and eager for answers, they shared the image in a Facebook group, asking others for their thoughts.

It didn’t take long for the photo to gain attention, and soon, a local journalist picked up the story. The image—along with their account of how it was captured—made headlines.

But what exactly did they photograph?

Experts suggest the “humanoid” figure is likely an example of pareidolia—a psychological phenomenon where the brain perceives familiar shapes in random patterns. In this case, the figure was likely just a rock formation, illuminated in such a way that it resembled a person.
