Teen Girl Shot at Aurora House Party, Police Search for Suspect

A teenage girl was hospitalized early Sunday morning after being shot at a house party in Aurora, according to a statement from the Aurora Police Department (APD). The shooting occurred just before 1 a.m. at a residence on South Nome Street, where a large gathering was taking place.

APD reported that the victim, identified only as a “minor-aged female,” was shot while leaving the party. She sustained a gunshot wound to her leg and was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities did not disclose further details about her condition.

Police have yet to identify a suspect, describing the shooter only as an unknown individual. No details have been released regarding any possible motive behind the shooting or whether the victim knew the perpetrator.

The incident has left the neighborhood shaken, with many residents expressing concerns about safety at gatherings that tend to draw large crowds of young people. One nearby resident, who asked to remain anonymous, said they heard loud music and a sudden commotion just before police arrived.

APD is actively investigating the case and urges anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Police are hopeful that witnesses or anyone who may have attended the party will assist in identifying the suspect responsible for the shooting.

As the investigation continues, the Aurora Police Department is increasing patrols in the area to prevent further violence and ensure community safety.
