Business owners and residents in Denver’s Park Hill neighborhood woke up to a disturbing scene on Sunday morning, finding shattered windows in the wake of an overnight shooting. The incident took place near 29th Avenue and Fairfax Street, where shots rang out around 1 a.m., leaving multiple businesses and apartments with damaged windows. Even days later, many storefronts remained boarded up.

Copper Door Coffee Roaster employee River Ashmore arrived at work early that morning and found one of the shop’s high windows shattered, initially suspecting a fallen object. Noticing nothing was missing, he quickly called his manager and cordoned off the area. As daylight revealed the extent of the damage, Ashmore saw that nearby businesses and apartment buildings had also been hit. Police later informed him that the likely culprits were teenagers discharging firearms in the area, with bullet casings found near residential buildings where people had been sleeping.

Residents, noting the recent redevelopment of the area, expressed concern, as this type of incident is uncommon for Park Hill, a neighborhood characterized by homes, apartments, parks, and local businesses. Ashmore remarked that anyone nearby could easily have been caught in the crossfire, underscoring the unsettling nature of the event.
