A 27-year-old Denver man is in custody, facing five counts of attempted first-degree murder after allegedly firing a gun at another vehicle during an aggressive driving incident on Interstate 25.

Incident Details

The confrontation occurred around 6:52 a.m. Tuesday near County Line Road on southbound I-25. According to authorities, the victim reported seeing a black sedan driving aggressively alongside their vehicle. The driver of the sedan then brandished a handgun and fired a shot into the front passenger side bumper of the victim’s car while traveling at approximately 80 mph. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The victim managed to capture a video of the suspect’s vehicle and recorded the license plate number, which was provided to investigators. Detectives began tracking the vehicle using area surveillance cameras.

Arrest and Investigation

By 1:30 p.m. that day, Lone Tree detectives located the suspect vehicle in Parker near Main Street and South Chambers Road. Officers from both Lone Tree and Parker police departments collaborated to safely apprehend the suspect.

The suspect has been identified as Oscar Lozoya-Borrego, 27, of Denver. Following his arrest, police searched the vehicle and recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.

Charges and Ongoing Investigation

Lozoya-Borrego is currently being held at the Douglas County Justice Center on a $500,000 bond. He faces five counts of attempted first-degree murder. Authorities have stated that the incident appears to be isolated and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

This case highlights the dangers of aggressive driving and the importance of reporting such incidents to law enforcement.
