Colorado Firefighters Save Dog from Burning Vehicle

Arvada firefighters performed a heroic rescue on Wednesday morning, saving a dog trapped inside a burning car.

The incident occurred around 9:40 a.m. near I-70 and Kipling Street, where firefighters quickly responded to reports of a vehicle engulfed in flames. Witnesses at the scene informed the crew that a dog might still be inside the burning car.

Acting swiftly, the firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze and locate the dog, Whetto, inside the vehicle. When Whetto was pulled from the car, he was unresponsive and not breathing. Fire medics immediately began resuscitation efforts, working to revive him.

After receiving on-site care, Whetto was transported to Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital for further treatment. The efforts paid off, as Whetto made a remarkable recovery.

“Whetto is doing very well and was even wagging his tail and smiling when the crew stopped by to visit and follow up,” Arvada Fire shared. “Well done, 52s, and we will be wishing Whetto a continued safe recovery and plenty of belly rubs.”

Thanks to the quick actions and dedication of the Arvada Fire team, Whetto’s life was saved, leaving the community inspired by this heartwarming act of bravery.
