Denver Weather: More Mountain Snow, Windy Monday Ahead

While Denver remains dry, snow will continue in the high country through Monday, with mountain areas expected to see more accumulation. The Pinpoint Weather team is also tracking gusty winds on Monday, followed by a brief cool down as we ring in the New Year.

Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings are in effect through late Sunday morning, and avalanche risks in the backcountry will persist until Monday evening. Mountain areas could see an additional 5 to 10 inches of snow by Monday night, depending on the location.

Weather Tonight: Snow in the Mountains, Dry in the Metro

Temperatures in Denver and the plains will stay around freezing overnight Saturday, while the northern high country continues to experience snowfall. Skies in Denver will be mostly clear to partly cloudy. Expect temperatures to rise into the mid to upper 50s on Sunday, with some areas potentially reaching 60°F. It will be a bit breezy in the afternoon, while the mountains will catch a brief break from snow showers.

Looking Ahead: Windy Monday, Cooler Start to 2025

Even though Denver is expected to stay dry, strong winds will make Monday a windy day. Gusts could reach up to 40 miles per hour in Denver and the plains, with the foothills possibly experiencing wind gusts of 60 miles per hour. Due to the dry conditions, there may also be an elevated fire risk.

Temperatures will dip slightly for New Year’s Eve and Day, with highs dropping to around 40°F, a few degrees colder than usual. However, this cool down won’t last long—by Thursday, temperatures will return to the middle 40s (near normal), and the 50s will make a comeback by the end of the week.
