A 72-year-old Denver man has been convicted on four counts of bank robbery and one count of robbery affecting interstate commerce, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado. Flozell Beasley was found guilty for committing a series of robberies in Denver between May and July of 2023, including two banks, two credit unions, and a taco shop.

Beasley carried out his crimes by dressing as a construction worker and threatening employees with a replica gun. After stealing money, he would quickly flee the scene. One of his robberies in July involved a heist at the Vectra Bank on E 17th Street, during which he took off with stolen cash that contained a GPS tracker hidden inside. Beasley was apprehended just 12 minutes later on a Denver RTD bus, where police found the stolen money, the GPS device, the replica gun, a construction vest, and a helmet in a bag at his feet.

FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge, Mark Michalek, pointed out that Beasley, a previously convicted felon, returned to criminal behavior after his release from prison. “This is the kind of defendant that gets the attention of the FBI Denver Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force,” said Michalek. “With help from partners like the Denver Police Department and the Regional Transportation District, we tracked him down and ended his criminal activity in the community.”
