A Colorado woman has been convicted of second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, and robbery in connection with the 2020 killing of her boyfriend, Cody DeLisa. After a three-week trial, Ashley White, 29, was found guilty of fatally shooting DeLisa, 28, twice in the head following a dispute about her job prospects. Prosecutors described White and DeLisa’s relationship as volatile, with DeLisa frequently criticizing White for her inability to secure stable employment, creating tension between the two.

According to prosecutors, White had expressed resentment toward DeLisa, even stating in her diary that she regretted meeting him. The situation escalated when White attempted to harm DeLisa’s cat, an incident that raised concerns about her mental well-being. On the day of the murder, White allegedly went to a job interview in Denver and texted DeLisa about it, during which DeLisa expressed skepticism about her chances of landing the job. This upset White, and prosecutors said she met a man named “Scott” on the bus who encouraged her to kill DeLisa.

After getting off the bus, White and Scott walked to White’s home, where Scott pretended to be White’s brother from Texas. There, DeLisa was shot twice in the head, and his wallet was stolen. His body was discovered the following day during a welfare check. White and Scott spent a couple of days together, but Scott eventually disappeared. It wasn’t until years later that a woman came forward, suggesting that Scott may have been Michael Stratton, who was in custody for a separate murder in Pueblo. However, Stratton has not been charged in DeLisa’s case, and White is scheduled for sentencing on April 4.
