Broncos Coach Michael Wilhoite Arrested on Suspicion of Assaulting a Police Officer
Denver Broncos linebackers coach and former NFL player Michael Wilhoite was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault of a police officer in Colorado, according to 9News’ Mike Klis. Wilhoite was booked into Denver’s downtown jail on Sunday, with a court appearance scheduled for Monday morning.
While details of the incident remain unclear, the Broncos confirmed they are aware of the arrest and the allegations.
Wilhoite, 38, began his football career as an undrafted player in 2011, eventually earning a starting role with the San Francisco 49ers from 2014-2015. After a five-season stint with the 49ers, he played for the Seattle Seahawks in 2017 before transitioning to coaching.
Since 2019, Wilhoite has been part of Sean Payton’s coaching circle, working with the New Orleans Saints, Los Angeles Chargers, and joining the Broncos coaching staff in 2023. The situation is under investigation, and no further details have been released at this time.
