Aurora Animal Shelter Seeks Donations to Keep Dogs Happy and Healthy

The Aurora Animal Shelter is facing a shortage of treats and toys, essential supplies that help provide daily enrichment for the dogs in their care. Through their enrichment program, dogs receive treats, toys, and scent activities twice a day, helping them feel more comfortable and better prepared for life in a forever home. However, with supplies running low, the shelter is asking the public for donations to ensure the dogs continue receiving these benefits.

“Right now, we only have a few bags of treats left,” said Shelter Supervisor Desirae Audino. “Enrichment time helps the dogs adjust and gives them a sense of normalcy, so running out of supplies would have a big impact on them.” The shelter is particularly in need of training treats, moist treats, and strong-scented options that dogs love. While dog toys are also welcomed, items designed for children, such as those with batteries or beads, cannot be accepted for safety reasons.

With spring bringing an influx of new dogs, the need for supplies is greater than ever. “We just want to keep them comfortable and happy,” Audino emphasized. The shelter, located at 15750 E 32nd Ave, Aurora, CO 80011, is accepting donations in person. They are also running a $50 adoption special for dogs six months or older, giving more dogs a chance to find their forever homes.
