Colorado Homeowner Confronts ‘Power Company’ Impostor Attempting Break-In

A Colorado resident had a terrifying encounter when a man claiming to be “from the power company” attempted to enter their home. The intruder opened the screen door and rattled the doorknob before the homeowner spotted him through the window. When confronted, the man quickly claimed he had “the wrong house” and walked away.

The unsettling incident, shared on Reddit, sparked heated discussions about self-defense laws in Colorado, with many commenters pointing out that the state’s castle doctrine allows homeowners to protect themselves from intruders without legal repercussions. Others highlighted that the man appeared “very creepy” and suspicious, questioning why he made eye contact despite being photographed.

Further scrutiny revealed the man’s shirt logo belonged to Power Home Remodeling, a door-to-door window and siding sales company. Multiple users confirmed past negative experiences with aggressive sales tactics from the business, warning others to steer clear.

Regardless of whether the suspect was attempting a scam or a break-in, the incident underscores the importance of home security and quick police reporting. As one Redditor bluntly put it: “If he tried it at your house, he’s probably done it before.”
