Teen Arrested in Drive-By Shooting During Music Video Filming at Aurora Gas Station

An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting that injured a teenager during the filming of a music video at an Aurora gas station. Police say the shooting, believed to be random, occurred around 10 p.m. last Friday near the 3200 block of North Peoria Street. A teen boy was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses told investigators that a white SUV drove past the group filming the video and fired several rounds that sounded like automatic gunfire. Police later identified the suspect as Mark Jackson, 18. On Tuesday, officers located the suspect vehicle near East Quincy Avenue and South Parker Road. Jackson fled during a traffic stop, abandoning the car and attempting to escape on foot. He was apprehended after a brief chase and taser deployment.

A 16-year-old girl in the car was also arrested on unrelated misdemeanor charges and for an outstanding warrant. Officers recovered a modified Glock 19 with an illegal automatic switch, believed to be the weapon used in the shooting, and found another handgun in the girl’s possession.

Jackson, a repeat offender, is currently held on a $250,000 bond and faces charges including possession of a weapon by a previous offender, possession of a prohibited large-capacity magazine, and vehicular eluding. Additional charges related to the shooting are expected.

At the time of his arrest, Jackson was out on bond for attempted murder in a 2024 carjacking and was serving parole for a 2023 weapons conviction involving Aurora Police. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
