3 Injured, 2 Homes Destroyed in Westminster Fire Near 80th Avenue

A devastating fire broke out in a Westminster neighborhood Monday evening, leaving two homes severely damaged, three people injured, and multiple families displaced. Thick plumes of black smoke were seen rising into the sky as flames tore through rooftops near 80th Avenue and Stuart Street, prompting an emergency response and the closure of a major roadway.

SkyFOX captured dramatic aerial footage around 6 p.m., showing intense flames engulfing two residential structures. At least two vehicles were also damaged in the blaze. By 6:25 p.m., the Westminster Fire Department confirmed the location of the fire and that 80th Avenue was closed between Raleigh and Stuart Place to accommodate emergency crews.

At the time, officials could not confirm any injuries or determine the cause of the fire. However, FOX31’s Nate Belt, reporting live from the scene around 6:45 p.m., later confirmed that three individuals were treated for injuries, and that both homes were considered total losses. Tragically, two cats were also killed in the fire.

Emily Peek, a public information officer for the Westminster Fire Department, said that some 911 callers reported hearing an explosion, though investigators have not yet confirmed a cause.

The American Red Cross arrived shortly after to assist displaced families with temporary shelter and support services.

As of Tuesday morning, fire investigators continued to assess the damage and work to determine the fire’s origin. Westminster authorities are urging anyone with video footage or information related to the incident to contact local fire officials.
