Illegally Parked Car in Highlands Ranch Uncovers Major Drug and ID Theft Operation

A routine check on an illegally parked car in Highlands Ranch led to a massive bust on the morning of May 1, uncovering a stolen vehicle, loaded firearm, narcotics, and a cache of stolen personal information.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies spotted the suspicious vehicle parked across two spaces at 1265 Sgt. Jon Stiles Boulevard around 7:15 a.m. Upon approach, officers found two men passed out inside. The driver, identified as Laroy Alston of Denver, was reportedly impaired and disoriented. The passenger, Nicholas Fenton of Wyoming, attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended after a brief foot chase.

Inside the vehicle—confirmed to be stolen—deputies discovered a defaced, loaded Glock 27 Gen 4, multiple bags of methamphetamine, syringes, pipes, bongs, and other drug paraphernalia. In addition, authorities found stolen license plates, a trove of credit cards, IDs, and Social Security cards belonging to multiple victims. Tools, electronics, and personal documents linked to other crimes were also recovered.

Both suspects remain in custody and face a range of felony charges. The sheriff’s office highlighted the incident as a reminder of how vigilance in routine patrols can disrupt significant criminal activity.
