Kroenke Sports & Entertainment Acquires Full Ownership of River Mile Development, Including Elitch Gardens and Meow Wolf

Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE), the powerhouse behind Ball Arena and several major Denver venues, has taken full control of the ambitious River Mile redevelopment project. The company announced Thursday that it has acquired Revesco Properties’ stake in the project, solidifying KSE’s ownership of more than a mile of land along the South Platte River—including the iconic Elitch Gardens Theme and Water Park and the Meow Wolf building at 1338 1st Street.

This area, long discussed as the future of downtown Denver’s growth, is set to be transformed into a walkable urban oasis blending high-rise living, green spaces, and entertainment. KSE, which has co-managed Elitch Gardens with Revesco since 2015, now has full authority to execute a unified vision for both The River Mile and the adjacent Ball Arena campus redevelopment. Plans for the 55-acre Ball Arena site include housing, retail, parks, and entertainment venues in what KSE says will be a comprehensive reimagining of Denver’s core.

“We are grateful to Revesco for many years of productive collaboration,” said KSE owner E. Stanley Kroenke. “Realizing sole ownership of these properties will allow us to streamline our comprehensive vision for the future.”

Revesco President Rhys Duggan called the transition a natural next step, saying the foundation has been laid for Central Denver’s future and that the project is in “good hands” with the Kroenke family.

Despite the major shift in ownership, both Elitch Gardens and Meow Wolf will remain operational at their current locations. KSE Executive VP Mike Neary reassured the public that Elitch’s long-standing legacy will not only continue but improve. “For over a million visitors a year, it’s a rite of summer—and we intend to make it better than ever,” he said.
