Meet Rhingo: RiNo’s New 30-Foot-Tall Landmark Has a Name

After two weeks of community voting, Denver’s massive new rhino statue in the River North (RiNo) neighborhood officially has a name: Rhingo. The 30-foot-tall, 22,000-pound climbable sculpture will now serve as the quirky, eye-catching mascot of the redeveloped Denargo Market district.

The name was unveiled Thursday by Denver City Councilman Darrell Watson during a public event at the site. Nearly 1,500 locals cast their vote in the naming contest, organized by Golub & Company and FORMATIV, the joint development team behind the project.

“Before the full buildout of the 17-acre site, we wanted to create something that draws people in,” said Sean Campbell, CEO of FORMATIV. “Rhingo is just the beginning — a landmark that invites visitors to climb, snap photos, and experience the heart of Denargo Market.”

Although Rhingo won’t be climbable just yet, the statue will soon be surrounded by more than four acres of public parks, plazas, and recreational spaces as part of the neighborhood’s transformation into a major community hub.
