Suspect Arrested in Connection to Two Fatal Aurora Stabbings, Police Say Incidents Likely Linked

Aurora police say a man has been taken into custody in connection with two fatal stabbings that occurred hours apart early Sunday morning—just blocks from each other near East Colfax Avenue. While the suspect was arrested on unrelated charges by another jurisdiction later that same day, authorities believe he may be linked to both homicides. His identity has not been released, and police say they will withhold it unless he is formally charged.

The first victim was found around 1:45 a.m. near the 1500 block of North Moline Street, unresponsive and suffering from stab wounds. Officers attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Just under five hours later, around 6:30 a.m., police responded to a similar report near a bus stop on Peoria Street—just south of Colfax—where a second man was also found fatally stabbed.

“Based on the timeline, proximity of locations, and similarities in injuries, investigators now believe the two incidents are connected,” the Aurora Police Department said in a statement Monday.

Both victims were reportedly experiencing homelessness, though police say it’s too early to determine whether they were specifically targeted because of their housing status. In response, the city activated its Homeless Abatement and Relocation Team to support the area and community concerns following the attacks.

While no formal charges have been announced, investigators are actively reviewing surveillance footage and pursuing leads. Anyone with information that could help solve the case is encouraged to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
