Tragic Crash Claims Two Lives in Aurora After Driver Runs Red Light
Two people were killed early Sunday morning in Aurora when an 18-year-old driver allegedly ran a red light and crashed into their vehicle. According to Aurora police, a 37-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl were traveling westbound on Alameda Parkway in a Hyundai around 2:49 a.m. when an Audi heading north on Airport Boulevard sped through the red light and collided with them.
Both the woman and the teenager in the Hyundai died at the scene. The Audi’s driver was hospitalized with serious injuries, and a 16-year-old girl riding with him sustained minor injuries. A third car, which was waiting to turn, suffered minor damage and the driver was also slightly injured but was not directly involved in the crash.
At this time, the 18-year-old driver is not in custody. Police say they are working closely with the district attorney’s office and will determine charges following the completion of a crash reconstruction.
