A terrifying road rage incident in Aurora left a father seriously injured after he was attacked with a baseball bat by two men at a busy intersection. The assault happened around 7 p.m. on July 8 near Peoria Street and Alameda Avenue, following a heated exchange that began with aggressive driving and tailgating.

The victim, who is choosing to remain anonymous for his safety, said the ordeal started when another driver became angry over a lane merge. The driver and a passenger exited their vehicle after both cars came to a stop. As the father stepped out to take photos for police, he was immediately assaulted. When he didn’t fall during the beating, a woman inside the attackers’ car handed one of the men a metal baseball bat, which was then used to strike the victim in the head.

“I was left bleeding in the street. No one helped, except one woman who offered napkins and water,” the man recalled. Doctors told him the blow could have been fatal if it had hit near his temple or if a heavier bat had been used.

Aurora police say they are actively investigating and urge anyone who witnessed the attack or recognizes the suspects to come forward. They also offered guidance for those involved in road rage situations: remain in your vehicle, call 911, and avoid confrontation.

“Someone who hits another person in the head with a bat is trying to kill them,” the victim said. “We need to treat each other with more kindness — this kind of violence has no place in society.”

If you have information, contact Aurora PD at 303-627-3100 or Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).
