Drone Helps Police Catch Robbery Suspect After High-Speed Chase
Loveland police used drone technology to track down a robbery suspect who tried to outrun officers on both a motorcycle and on foot.
According to the Loveland Police Department, officers first spotted a motorcycle speeding without a rear light or license plate. When they attempted a traffic stop, the driver accelerated to nearly 100 miles per hour. Due to safety concerns, officers called off the chase, but additional units were alerted and began searching the area.
Not long after, the motorcycle was spotted again. The driver fled a second time before crashing and attempting to escape on foot. With the help of partner agencies, police deployed a drone, which quickly located the suspect hiding in a grassy area.
The man was taken into custody and later identified as not only evading police but also allegedly committing a robbery. Officers say he was in possession of drugs at the time of his arrest. He was booked into the Larimer County Jail and now faces multiple criminal charges.
