Denver’s Singles Scene Gets a Spotlight: Pitch-A-Friend Takes Over McGregor Square
Move over dating apps — Denver singles are about to get their shot on the big screen, literally. This Friday, McGregor Square will host the city’s largest singles event to date, complete with PowerPoint presentations, pet adoptions, and plenty of mingling.
The event is called Pitch-A-Friend, a playful dating trend where friends create lighthearted PowerPoints to highlight why their single pal deserves a chance. The slides can be anything from sweet (“he’s the best dog dad in Denver”) to silly (“she eats tacos five nights a week and will never apologize for it”). What started in Philadelphia in 2020 as a quirky way to vouch for friends has quickly grown into a nationwide movement — and Denver’s chapter has been gaining steam since late 2024.
Past Pitch-A-Friend events in Denver bars have packed the house, but this week the trend is leveling up in a major way: presentations will be broadcast on McGregor Square’s massive Jumbotron. The downtown plaza, usually reserved for sports watch parties, will transform into an open-air singles showcase.
The night promises more than just pitches. Alongside 15 featured presentations, there will be mini speed-dating sessions, interactive games, and even a few pet adoption pitches — because who could say no to a new love and a new puppy?
The event kicks off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and is completely free and open to the public. While sign-ups to present a friend have closed, Denver singles and curious onlookers are encouraged to come, mingle, and maybe meet someone new under the glow of downtown’s biggest screen.
With McGregor Square as the backdrop, it’s safe to say this isn’t just another Friday night in Denver — it’s dating, Colorado-style, on a whole new scale.
