8 Colorado Spots Rank Among Nation’s Best for Fall Leaf Viewing Trips
Fall in Colorado is a fleeting masterpiece — one that paints the mountains and valleys in fiery reds, golden yellows, and shimmering oranges. And according to a new report from HomeToGo, Colorado is home to eight of the top 75 destinations in the entire country for fall leaf viewing.
Peak color varies across the state, with high-country towns like Aspen and Telluride glowing brightest from Sept. 16–23, while Denver and the Front Range usually peak around Oct. 16–27. Most of the mountain corridor will see its prime display between Sept. 21–Oct. 8.
The travel site ranked destinations by the affordability of vacation homes, how “under the radar” each spot remains, the scenic punch of autumn landscapes, and the variety of trees that turn during the season.

Just a short drive from Denver, Evergreen shines in fall with elk spotting in Evergreen Park, paddleboarding on Evergreen Lake, and drives up to nearby Mount Blue Sky.
Other trending destinations include Oro Valley, Arizona (+779%), Kanab, Utah (+423%), Galena Territory, Illinois (+397%), and Celebration, Florida (+343%).
