Bra-Free Run on Tennyson Street to Support Young Adults Battling Breast Cancer

Denver’s Tennyson Street is about to host one of its most unique charity events yet — a bra-free run designed to raise awareness and funds for young Coloradans diagnosed with breast cancer.

The first-ever event, hosted by Berkeley Alley Brewing (better known as The Alley) and Empourium Brewing, will take place on Sunday, Oct. 5, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Participants are invited to run, walk, skip, or simply strut “bra-free” for two blocks — starting at Empourium at 4385 W. 42nd Ave. and finishing at The Alley at 4342 Tennyson St.

For a $20 entry fee, participants will receive a pre-race drink at Empourium, a yoga warm-up with Ohana Yoga & Barre, and entry into the lighthearted “Titty Trot.” The race kicks off at 11 a.m. after yoga at 10:30 a.m., with check-in and the first beverage beginning at 10 a.m. Runners will be rewarded with a celebratory post-race drink at The Alley, where live music, food, and more festivities will continue until 1 p.m.

The event isn’t just about fun — it’s about impact. All proceeds will go to Polite Tumor, a Colorado nonprofit supporting young adults (ages 18-39) diagnosed with breast cancer. According to the organization, this age group often faces higher medical costs, averaging $20,000 more than patients over 40, making community support all the more vital. Attendees will also have access to self-examination education provided by BeaconRN.

Tickets are available for $23.18 through Eventbrite.

This isn’t the only community cause The Alley is taking on. Just a week earlier, on Saturday, Sept. 27, they’ll host a suicide awareness event featuring live music and $15 semi-colon tattoos from Dreambent Tattoo Studios, with proceeds benefiting the Jefferson Center for Mental Health.

Between beer, yoga, music, and a one-of-a-kind trot down Tennyson, this event proves that awareness and advocacy can come with a little humor and a lot of heart.
