Great Dane Steps In as Colorado Woman Faces Scary Encounter on Walk

A Colorado woman says a routine walk quickly turned into a frightening encounter—one that may have ended very differently without her dog by her side.

Sabrina, who shared the incident on TikTok, was out walking her Great Dane, Bensen, on a trail near her home when she noticed a man dressed entirely in black following her. According to her post, the man stayed close behind her “at every turn,” ignoring her warnings that she would call police. The situation escalated when he allegedly cut through a fence and hid behind a parked car, seemingly trying to get ahead of her path.

But before anything could happen, Bensen reacted.

POV: The man following you on the trails behind your home didn’t realize your “horse” was actually a Great Dane with HEFTY protective instincts🖤 This creep followed us at every turn, ignored my warning to leave us alone or i’d call police…he then climbed through the hole in the fence & hid behind a car waiting (which he thought he was slick but i saw his every move). Benson has NEVER barked at someone before this encounter! He’s a protective boy and I’m grateful for that! Let’s just say Benson made it very clear we were not the ones to mess with🤭 💅 Grateful for this gentle giant of an old man!!!!❤️‍🔥🤘🐾 #greatdane #scarydogprivilege #gentlegiant #bigdog #greatdanesoftiktok @Paris Paloma @Law and Order SVU @Law & Order @Mariska Hargitay

As the man stepped out from behind the vehicle, the dog immediately locked onto him and began barking, forcing the man to back off. Sabrina didn’t hesitate either, confronting him directly and warning him not to approach. She also made it clear she had recorded the encounter. At that point, the man apologized and quickly walked away.

Sabrina later said she had been watching his movements the entire time and wasn’t caught off guard. Still, she credits her dog’s instincts and presence for helping prevent the situation from escalating further.

The video quickly gained traction online, with viewers praising both Sabrina’s confidence and Bensen’s protective instincts. Many commenters shared stories of their own dogs stepping in during tense moments, calling Bensen a hero and a reminder of just how in tune some pets can be with danger.

For Sabrina, it was a powerful example of trust and awareness—both her own and her dog’s—turning a potentially dangerous situation into one she was able to walk away from safely.
