Von Miller Went From Sacking QBs to Raising Chickens—and It Actually Makes Sense

Von Miller might be known for sacking quarterbacks, but off the field, he’s built a reputation in a very different arena—chicken farming. The NFL star is a co-owner of one of Texas’ largest regenerative poultry operations, a venture that actually traces back to his childhood in DeSoto, where he raised chickens in his backyard. What started as a casual decision to take a poultry class at Texas A&M unexpectedly turned into a passion, eventually leading Miller to switch his major to poultry science and fully embrace the industry.

After signing his second NFL contract in 2018, Miller teamed up with experienced farmer Cameron Molberg to launch Greener Pastures, a 35-acre farm outside Austin focused on sustainable, regenerative practices. The operation has since expanded to include a 20,000-square-foot USDA-certified organic poultry processing facility, supplying high-quality, non-GMO chicken through subscriptions, grocery partners, and their restaurant concept, WingRiot!.

To bring his farm-to-table vision to life, Miller also collaborated with rising chef Eric Silverstein to create bold, flavor-packed dishes inspired by his favorite cuisines, blending Mexican and Asian influences. The result is WingRiot!, a fast-growing restaurant brand serving up creative takes on chicken favorites.

If you’re in Texas—or even Sulphur, Louisiana—and craving wings, WingRiot! has become a go-to spot, offering its signature dishes year-round with special events like Black Food Fridays adding even more flavor to the experience.
