Bodycam Video Captures Dramatic Dog Rescue From Colorado House Fire
Newly released body camera footage shows Westminster police officers rushing into a burning home to rescue a trapped dog before firefighters arrived on scene.
According to video shared by the Westminster Police Department and first reported by FOX31, the homeowner was able to escape the fire with one dog, but a second dog was still trapped inside the smoke-filled house. Officers quickly searched the front area of the home and tried calling the frightened animal toward the door, but the dog ran deeper into the house instead.
Without hesitation, the officers followed the dog inside, grabbed her by the collar, and safely guided her back outside through the front door. The emotional rescue reunited the dog with her owner and the family’s other pet just moments before firefighters arrived.
The Westminster Fire Department later extinguished the fire, and officials said no injuries were reported.
In a statement posted alongside the video, the police department said the incident highlights the risks officers take while protecting the community, especially during dangerous emergency situations.
