A former Boulder County sheriff’s deputy was arrested early Monday after allegedly firing at his former workplace while employees were inside. Investigators also suspect him of shooting at police vehicles in Broomfield.
Authorities identified the suspect as Tyler Boyd Reilly, 40. No injuries were reported at either location. denver7.com


Threats Prompted Deputies to Prepare
According to the sheriff’s office, Reilly called dispatch shortly after midnight on September 28, initially reporting anxiety. During a second call, he allegedly threatened sheriff’s facilities.
Deputies were positioned at headquarters, the jail and the communications campus in anticipation of his arrival.
At approximately 1:08 a.m., a sergeant spotted Reilly outside headquarters at 5600 Flatiron Parkway. Authorities say he fired an AR-15-style rifle at the entrance. He did not enter the building and was arrested outside without incident. Boulder County

He Left the Department in 2024
Reilly previously served in the jail and patrol divisions. The sheriff’s office said he resigned on May 25, 2024, “in lieu of termination for cause.”
Investigators also linked him to shots fired at multiple Broomfield police vehicles. Authorities reported no ongoing public threat.
The investigation remains active. Charges had not been announced in the sheriff’s initial release.
