It’s that time of the year again, and no, we’re not talking about Christmas. Thanksgiving is a holiday where many of us take time off work to get together with our families. That final Thursday of November marks the time of turkey, football, and rolls.

Not a football person? No problem! Various events add to the Mile High City’s festive atmosphere.

From parades to fun runs, Thanksgiving events in Denver, Colorado give this all-American holiday and tradition its own Mile High Spin.

So, what else is there to do in Denver for Thanksgiving? Set aside the purple yams, and let’s talk about these three cool Thanksgiving activities in Denver, Colorado!

1. Make Room for the Thanksgiving Binge at the Mile High United Way Turkey Trot

Let’s be honest. Everything you’ll find on the table at Thanksgiving dinner is a calorie bomb. If you’re conscious about your newly earned pre-Thanksgiving figure, you’ll need a way to burn the calories off.

Here’s the good news — you can burn these easily and festively at the Mile High United Way Turkey Trot!

The Mile United Way Turkey Trot is a yearly Thanksgiving charity fun run. For an affordable fee, you’ll make room for the calories you’ll consume and help families and individuals in need.

All proceeds from the event go to the United Way nonprofit in Denver. Slots are open, so you can register alongside 10,000 other runners looking to burn calories and give back to the community.

2. Soak in the Mile High City’s Festive Atmosphere at the Parade of Lights

When the sun goes down, Denver lights up. No other Thanksgiving event embodies this more than in the Parade of Lights. The Denver Parade of Lights is hosted by 9News, the Mile High City’s local news network. The parade features floats and performances, guaranteed to put a smile on every family’s face!

Here’s a bit of advice from us — hit the party early. Thousands gather for this Thanksgiving event. Showing up earlier gives you the best seats (or stands) in the house for this one-of-a-kind Thanksgiving Mile High soiree.

3. Light Up Your Thanksgiving in the Grand Illumination

Is the Parade of Lights a little too much because of the crowd? You’ve still got the Grand Illumination to look forward to. Take a detour towards Downtown Denver to witness the lighting of the city’s giant Christmas tree.

Now, we know what you’re thinking: “Christmas? But it’s Thanksgiving!”

Sure, November is a month early for Christmas trees, but the Mile High City likes to kick off the Christmas season fresh off a big holiday. Talk about being in the festive mood for weeks, right?

There’s More to a Mile High City Thanksgiving than Turkey!

Denver, Colorado is never short of attractions and charms. This is especially true when you come during the last Thursday of November.

Whether you’re joining a charity run or soaking in the festivities at 14th Avenue and Bannock, there’s something for everybody on Thanksgiving!
