A Petition Has Been Started To Keep Larimer Open to Pedestrians

A petition has been started to keep Larimer open to pedestrians. Read the petition below.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Denver has closed Larimer Street to cars between 14th and 15th Street and opened this space to allow people to safely shop, dine, and walk while maintaining safe physical distancing.

Not only does this transformation of Larimer Square help support the locally-owned businesses on Denver’s oldest and most historic block, it also shows what’s possible when we reclaim street space for people.  Streets account for about 80% of public space in cities, and there is so much more we can do with that space besides just move and store vehicles. Streets designed for people foster vibrant local economies, create inviting public gathering places, and connect people to what matters most.

Join the Denver Streets Partnership in calling on the City of Denver to keep Larimer open for people permanently, so that everyone can continue to benefit from this premier public space that puts people first, during the pandemic and beyond.

You can sign the petition here: www.change.org
