Colorado Native Ally Watt Becomes First Player in Denver Summit FC History
Denver Summit FC has made its first historic signing, announcing forward Ally Watt as the inaugural player in franchise history. The move marks a major milestone for the new NWSL club, which will take the field for its debut season in 2026.
Watt, 28, joins the team from the Orlando Pride, where she has played since 2022 and was part of their 2024 NWSL Shield and Championship-winning squad. Over three seasons with Orlando, she recorded 60 appearances, six goals, and three assists. Originally selected sixth overall in the 2020 NWSL Draft by the North Carolina Courage, Watt has also suited up for OL Reign and Melbourne City FC.
A native of Colorado Springs and graduate of Pine Creek High School, Watt says the signing carries special meaning. “It’s an incredible honor to be the first player in Denver Summit FC history,” Watt said. “As a Coloradan, this opportunity means so much to me, not just to play the game I love, but to represent the place that shaped who I am in front of the people that mean the most to me.”
Under the agreement, Watt will remain on loan with Orlando for the rest of the 2025 season before officially joining Denver in 2026. She has signed with Summit through the 2028 NWSL campaign. As part of the deal, Orlando receives $75,000 in expansion allocation money and $37,500 in intra-league transfer funds.
Denver Summit FC General Manager Curt Johnson called Watt “dynamic, experienced, and driven,” noting her championship pedigree and Colorado roots make her the perfect first signing. “We’re proud to welcome her as the foundation of Denver Summit FC,” Johnson said.
