Temporary Alcohol Ban and New Hours at Aurora Reservoir for the Summer

Starting Saturday, the city of Aurora will temporarily ban the possession and consumption of alcohol and implement new park hours at Aurora Reservoir.

AURORA, Colo. — Visitors to the Aurora Reservoir will notice some temporary adjustments beginning Saturday, including a ban on alcohol and changes to operating hours.

“Aurora Reservoir is a beautiful and unique space within the city, and one that we want all guests to be able to enjoy,” said Brooke Bell, the director of the city’s Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Department (PROS). “We are making these changes to improve the experience for all guests and to assist our staff in managing the large crowds we see during the warmer months.”

The park will be open from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Increased security will be present on weekends to “ensure the safety of all visitors” and provide assistance to park guests, according to city officials.

In addition to the alcohol ban, loud music is also prohibited, and these rules will be “strictly enforced,” the city stated. New signs in English and Spanish have been posted around the park to remind visitors of the updated hours and restrictions.

These changes will not affect any pre-scheduled, permitted, large-scale events or any other PROS facilities or parks, the city assured. The reservoir remains open to all forms of boating, and the swim beach is open for the season.

For questions or more information about the changes, visit the Aurora Reservoir website.
