Driver Ejected in Rollover Crash on I-70 in Aurora, Sustains Life-Threatening Injuries
A serious rollover crash on Interstate 70 in Aurora early Saturday morning left one driver hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. According to Aurora Police, the crash involved two vehicles and occurred just before 7:15 a.m. near Airport Boulevard.
Investigators say one of the vehicles rolled over, ejecting the driver who was not wearing a seatbelt. That individual was transported to the hospital with critical injuries. The second driver sustained only minor injuries.
Police believe excessive speed played a significant role in the crash.
The Colorado Department of Transportation closed all westbound lanes of I-70 at Airport Boulevard and rerouted traffic to Peña Boulevard, causing major delays. As of 10:07 a.m., CDOT reported that the crash had been cleared and all lanes had reopened.
