Evergreen Senior’s Viral Song Brings Faith and Hope After School Shooting

In the wake of last week’s tragic shooting at Evergreen High School, one student is using music to turn pain into hope.

Judah Cox, an 18-year-old senior and self-taught pianist, sat down the day after the attack and poured his emotions into an original ballad. Written through tears, the song reflects on fear, courage, loss, and holding on to faith in uncertain times.

While Cox wasn’t on campus during the shooting, his younger brother — a freshman — was inside the building. The long, anxious wait to learn his brother was safe became the emotional spark that inspired the heartfelt lyrics.

A video of Cox performing the piece has since gone viral, spreading quickly across social media with hundreds of thousands of views and messages of encouragement from classmates, community members, and strangers nationwide. For Cox, the song is more than music — it’s an offering of peace to a shaken community.

The Evergreen teen, who taught himself piano on an instrument left behind in his family’s home, now plans to study music production at Full Sail University in Orlando. For those wanting to hear the full performance, it’s available on his social channels at @judahalexandermusic.
