Ex-Broncos Player Terrell Davis Claims United Airlines Banned Him from Flying

Former Denver Broncos player Terrell Davis, who recently said he was handcuffed and removed from a United Airlines flight in front of his family, now reports that the airline has issued him a travel ban notice.

The Incident

In mid-July, Davis was on a United flight from Denver to Orange County, California. According to Davis, he tapped a flight attendant on the arm to get their attention and asked for a cup of ice. The flight attendant allegedly responded by shouting, “Don’t hit me.” Once the flight landed, FBI and law enforcement officers boarded the plane and handcuffed Davis. A video later released shows Davis being escorted off the plane by an FBI agent and another officer while other passengers remained onboard. In the video, Davis appears to go willingly.

United Airlines’ Response

Following the incident, United Airlines issued a statement: “This is clearly not the kind of travel experience we strive to provide, and we have reached out to Mr. Davis’s team to apologize. We have removed the flight attendant from duty while we closely review this matter.”

The Travel Ban Notice

On Tuesday morning, Davis posted on his Instagram a screenshot of an email that appears to have been sent by United’s Passenger Incident Review Committee. The email states that United’s policy is to “delay or refuse any passenger whose conduct or condition threatens the safety of the employees and passengers.” It further informed Davis that he is not permitted to fly with United until the committee reviews the incident and possibly considers reinstatement. In the meantime, Davis can submit a summary of the incident.

Davis’ Response

Davis expressed his frustration in his Instagram post: “This company not only wrongfully accused me of something I did not do and had me handcuffed and detained, but they have failed on so many levels to demonstrate any genuine empathy for my family’s experience and also at making the real changes to ensure this doesn’t happen to anyone else.”

Legal Actions

Davis’ attorney, Parker Stinar, announced plans to file a lawsuit on behalf of the family in the next couple of weeks.
