Operation Freebird: Bringing Holiday Support Back to the Community

As the holiday season approaches, the Operation Freebird initiative is revving up once again—this year thanks to a strong partnership between the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Mountain States Toyota, the Food Bank of the Rockies, and other local agencies. Set for Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event will take place at Mountain States Toyota, 201 W. 70th Ave., Denver.

During the event, community members can pick up turkey vouchers and food boxes while supplies last—this year, about 1,000 turkey vouchers and more than 1,300 food boxes will be distributed. Each box includes fresh produce and traditional holiday staples like canned vegetables, stuffing, gravy, and cranberry sauce.

Beyond the Thanksgiving food giveaway, Operation Freebird also provides valuable community resources including flu shots, dental screenings, veteran services, mental health support, and housing assistance. The goal is to help families not only enjoy the holiday meal but also access vital services that strengthen the community.

There’s no registration required, and food will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Organizers expect a large turnout and encourage attendees to arrive early. With food prices and living costs continuing to rise, Operation Freebird remains a vital annual event that helps Colorado families head into Thanksgiving with full plates and grateful hearts.
